Baptism
Baptism is where your life in God truly begins. It is not simply a ritual—it is a rebirth. In this sacrament, you are drawn into the very life of the Trinity, washed clean of sin, and made a beloved child of the Father.
When Jesus declares, “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5), He is revealing that Baptism is not optional—it is the doorway to divine life. In these waters, you are united to Christ’s death and Resurrection: “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death… so we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
From the pierced Heart of Jesus—where “blood and water flowed out” (John 19:34)—the Church has always recognized the birth of the sacraments. Baptism flows from His Heart. It is love poured out for you.
Pope John Paul II teaches that Baptism is “the basis of the whole Christian life” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213). Here, everything begins. You are no longer defined by sin—you are claimed by God.
The signs speak intimately to your soul. The water that is poured is not only cleansing—it is the moment God says, “You are mine.” The white garment is not just symbolic—it reveals who you have become. The flame entrusted to you is Christ Himself, now alive within your heart. The sacred oil marks you forever as belonging to Him.
Mother Adela Galindo, the Foundress of the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, says, “Love is the essence and vocation of the human heart… we are made to give ourselves completely” (piercedhearts.org). In Baptism, this vocation is awakened—you are created anew to live as a gift of love.
Baptism is not something that stays in the past. It is a call you live every day—to reject sin, to choose Christ, and to walk as a child of the light.
Begin the life you were created for. In Baptism, the Heart of Christ opens for you—and you are made new.
